Karasuma line 烏丸線

A few shots I was able to gather while travelling back from our day trip to Osaka. We had to take the Karasuma line quiet a few times to get around Kyoto. We would always hop off the train at Karasuma-Oike, which houses the Zest commercial space; an underground shopping complex with many chic women's clothing stores such as Honey, as well as book stores, restaurants and small eating establishments, among others.

Depending on the time of day, these stations took on different vibes. The rush hour could be quite hectic, specifically in some passageways which ended up being quite cramped when so many people transited through them; likewise the actual platforms where filled to the brim with daily commuters and tourists. It's interesting to note that even with all this Hussle and buzzle, there wasn't much in the way of noise pollution, aside from the small groups of corporate workers on their way to the same offices or middle and high school groupies on their way to class.

Once the rush hour was over, the lines exhumed a very liminal feeling with that quintessentially empty and foreboding aesthetic that's so popular on the  internet nowadays.
